SCX24 Deadbolt
A week or so ago I bought the SCX24 Chevy C10. At the time I was debating between it and the Deadbolt. I have the original SCX10 Deadbolt and I had a teal green ’69 Chevy 1:1 so the ’67 Chevy C10 SCX24 won out. Sold the Yeti Jr Can-Am so I ordered a red SCX24 Deadbolt which arrived in the mail today. My 1/10 scale deadbolt is florescent geeen, the SCX24 are what I call baby shit green like the SCX10 II Deadbolt. Did Like the BS green so I went with the red.
I hate body clips not only are they a pain in the ass but they look stupid on a semi scale looking rig. My favorite way of holding the body on is magnets. So I opened FreeCad and designed a magnetic mount for the new SCX10 Deadbolt. the magnets on the mount will be held on place with Shoe-Goo as well as the 2 that go on the body. The little magnets are 6mmx2mm and are really strong for their size. I have them on the C10 and can pick it up by the body. When the ones on the mount dry I will put a piece of masking tape over them so no Shoe-Goo can get on them and I’ll set the others on top add a dap of Shoe-Goo and close the body. Add a little pressure until the Shoe-Goo cures and we’re all good.
Did a little crawling on my indoor course, well half of a course the 2nd half isn’t finished yet. Any who the SCX24 Deadbolt was a little top heavy as was reported in the reviews. The conciseness is that it’s the roll cage that make the CG so high. I ordered a full set of Fullsend wheel weights for it, they will be here Friday so we’ll see what that does for it. I would think that it should help. In the meantime I might take the cage off and see if that makes a difference. I knnow others have trimmed the roll cage and saved several grams of high weight.
