Santa showed up early
A couple of weeks ago I took the wife to Sam’s so she could do some shopping. While waiting for her I perused the Electronics Dept. I came across the Bose Sound link II which was in the demo mode. This thing had amazing sound. Along with an amazing price of $270. No way was going to pay that nor could I ever get it approved by the CFO.
I kept thinking about this little BT wonder and starting scouting the internet for a better price. I discovered this just wasn’t going to happen. While searching I kept seeing this Sony BT speaker for half the price. Didn’t pay to much attention to it.
Then the other day I decided to check some reviews on it. For the most part the reviews all rated it pretty high and some said it was real close to the Bose, that is unless you were a Bose fanboy. Oh yes we are talking about the Sony SRS BTX300. Amazon has it for $128 so that less than half of the Bose, this might just fly with the CFO. I mentioned it to her, she wanted to know if somebody local gas one to look at, my reply yes Best Buy has them. Pays to be prepared. She then says on the way to the Legion Christmas party this afternoon we should stop and look at it. I’m all for this and wanted to hear it playing my music and not done demo that is designed to make it found good.
So we stopped by Best Buy and I paired my phone with it and play some good ole country western music on it. It sounded really good. Well just down the Ilse they had the Bose so I paired with it and listened to it playing the same song, apples to apples is always better. The Bose may have sounded a little better but not a $140 better & it wasn’t also a speaker phone, nor could it charge you phone battery in a pinch. It was $129.99 at Best Buy so the CFO suggested we take one with us. Christmas came early!
Uses NFC for paring so I can just turn on NFC and tap the top of the BTX-300 with the N3, it will turn BT on and pair the 2 devices. Tap again and it will turn off BT and unpaid the 2. The only down side I can see off hand is the charging jack is pripirority and not the now pretty much standard micro USB so I think charging from 12v is out of the question. Charged the battery and played some tunes, think it sounds better in the store. Using PowerAmp added a little bass and it even sounded better. It has 3 modes of it’s own, None, Mega Bass, & Surround Sound.
Battery life is suppose to be 8 hours, but I don’t know about that at this time, nor do I know how it sounds when using as a speaker phone. Can also connect it to something using a 1/8″ stereo cable.
