Slash Maintenance
Found a bad wheel bearing on my 2wd Slash so I ordered a set of Avids from http://avidrc.com/. I chose their Revolutions, they have a rubber seal on one side and a metal seal on the other. You put the rubber seal outward towards the dirt and water. The Avids come prelubed with their Slick lube. Also had to replace one of the front bearing carrier pins, it was bent. That might explain why I kept loosing front end alignment.
While I was at it I also replaced the bearing carriers and A-armsĀ with the ones from RPM. Much stronger than the originals.
Wanted to try a 27t pinion, one of the guys runs a 27t pinion with a 86t spur and his motor runs about 20 degrees above the ambient temperature. He thinks his motor doesn’t heat up because he isn’t taxing it. Makes sense to me so I’m going to give it a try. I will have to learn to drive with partial throttle.
I think the next step will be to replace the shock towers with RPM ones. The stock ones are like rubber.
