Several years ago I had a Rylo 360 camera for a short time. I liked it but at the time I had a Android phone & Rylo couldn’t figure out how to store the video files on the SD card. No desktop app at the time so I just sent it back and moved on and bought a Gopro Hero 6 Black.
Fast forward to 2020 the contenders for your 360 dollars is less or at the very least different. I have been seeing and reading about the Insta360 One R since it’s release. The specs look good and a lot of the original bugs seem to have been fixed. 99% of the reviews were positive so it looked pretty good. It and the Gopro Max 360 ran bout head to head in reviews. The deciding thing for me was the app. iPhone in my case seemed much better) and did some things like Active Track and you could edit the files while they were still in the camera on the SD card. The App allowed you to do much more than what the Gopro app did. When this in mind I purchased the Insta360 One R Twin Edition with has both the 360 Mod & 4K Mod. It arrived yesterday, I mainly use my action cameras for filming my RC vehicles which includes car, trucks, & drones. Put the One R together, charged the battery and off to the backyard crawling course to the shakedown cruise. While I was filming the camera shut off or at least that I what I thought at the time. I figured ok the battery is dead. Went back to the house and when I went to look at the video I discovered that the batter was above 50%. Looked at the files and played around with them some. At this point I decided to charge the battery and run a test. Started a recording on the One R 360 Mod. After 30 minutes it stopped recording. At this point I thought what the hell. I started doing some real digging on the subject and found that there is approx a minute gap between when it stops recording before it start the next clip. You can miss a lot of action in a minute. Today I did the test over again sat the tripod on the table and started recording after 30 minutes sure enough it stopped again this time there was a message on the screen that said the One R was to HOT to resume recording. What the ?????? this test was being done in air conditioned room at 76 degrees. Was the unit defective or is it a reaccuring problem? After some more research I just didn’t have a fuzzy feeling about it so I returned it for a refund and bought the Gopro Max 360
